I must also acknowledge tonight, some original founding members of the SIA.
Initiated by Gary Gavegan, the first official meeting was held on 25th November 1987 between local employers and TAFE teachers. From that meeting and with us tonight, we have the original President, Mr Ted Macquart of Alumac Industries,
Vice President, Mr Kevin Johnsen of FJ Precision, and Mr Kevin Brown of Gymea TAFE who took over as treasurer after Mr Gavegan's departure from Gymea TAFE.
We also acknowledge Mr Leo Costa who took over for many years as President and achieved such things as a video to be passed around and displayed within our schools in order to encourage students to seek a career within our industry.
